It’s been seven years since I last interviewed legendary actress and singer Lorna Luft. I am so excited to catch up with Lorna as she gets ready to debut her NEW show at Feinstein’s/54 Below.

To kick off the Spring season, Lorna returns to Feinstein’s/54 Below with her brand new show, The Joy of Spring, which celebrates the full meaning of Spring through the Great American Songbook, songs made famous by her mother & film legend, Judy Garland, as well as through personal stories from a lifetime in show business.

In this NEW interview, Lorna once again answered my call, but this time to reveal:
  • Why Lorna loves the Spring season
  • Creating her brand new show, The Joy of Spring
  • Starring in Grease 2
  • Lorna tells some great stories about her iconic mother, Judy Garland
  • So much more

The Joy of Spring will play Feinstein’s/54 Below from March 31-April 2, 2022 at 7pm.

1. This March/April you are returning to Feinstein's/54 Below with your brand-new show The Joy of Spring. What are you looking forward to most about performing this show? Spring is my favorite time of year. I love everything about it! From the colors of the flowers, to how the sun breaks through the sky with warmth after a dark and cold winter. I hope to incorporate these feelings of springtime into the show through both my stories and music.

2. The show is described as the embracement of change, perseverance through obstacles and the celebration of life. What's the biggest change you have gone through? The biggest change, as I think we all have gone through, is learning how to stay positive in our everyday life. It is a challenge, but every day, I try to find something positive to think about. I hold onto that positivity all day long until the next day.

3. How do you get through tough times? I get through tough times by trying to find ways that turn the tough time into a good time. I realize how incredibly lucky I am, and that makes me very grateful even for the tough times.

4. What in life are you celebrating right now? I am constantly celebrating. I celebrate every single moment in life every single day!

5. How do you celebrate the start of Spring? To celebrate the start of Spring, the first thing I look for in the stores are daffodils. That makes me incredibly happy and grateful to see anything daffodil.

6. You are the daughter of Judy Garland. What is something you'd like everyone to know about her that only you would know from being her daughter? I celebrate my mother every single day in my heart. I have many memories of her and I keep those memories as my treasure chest for only me.

When you have such an iconic parent that has been talked about and written about for so many years, you must keep the treasured moments only for yourself.

7. What is something that happened recently you wish you could have talked to your mom about? I would have loved to talk to my mom about the birth of my fourth grandchild.

8. What is the #1 piece of advice your mom gave you that you took with you to this day? My mother always told me to always have a sense of humor and to find the funny in every day.

9. You starred in one of my boyfriend's favorite movies, Grease 2. Do you have any fun behind-the-scenes stories you haven't told before about making that movie? The friendships I made on Grease 2 will always be incredibly special to me.

10. What is something we didn't get to cover in this interview that you'd like my audience to know about you? It is a truly confusing, mind boggling and extraordinarily emotional time for the world right now. Let us stand together and hold one another’s hand and hearts so that the human race does not fall on its face.
